Our View on Logistics

Our job is to see the big picture and to create simple solutions from it. Our guiding stars are simplicity, seeing the big picture, and focusing on time.

Simplicity is an art. It is about increasing by subtraction. In our experience, simple solutions give better results and are easier to adapt to future changes. Adding is usually safe - "more is better" and "the solution is increasing the resources" are ways of thinking that few dare to question. Doing the opposite takes courage, and a way of thinking which is both critical and constructive.

Few can see the big picture. Improving parts is easy - it is harder to improve the whole, because it means avoiding suboptimization; in other words, shuffling the problems to someone else. As long as the big picture is not seen, the solutions will never be the best ones.

Time is measurable. We can use time to describe logistical activities such as flows and states. Time is a fundamental means of control as well as a measure in logistics. Time should be spent on useful activities - unnecessary lead times should be reduced.
